Real Estate Lawyer in Brazil for Foreign Investors
Buying property in João Pessoa or anywhere in Brazil from abroad? Get clear advice in English from a lawyer who has worked inside a Brazilian notary office.
Talk to the firmBrazil welcomes foreign buyers, but its property system has its own logic: notary deeds, registry offices, municipal transfer taxes and documents that are unfamiliar to most investors. A purchase that looks simple can hide debts, lawsuits or registration problems that only appear years later.
Lins Almeida Advocacia helps foreign investors and Brazilians living abroad buy, hold, rent and sell property in Brazil with security — and resolves the problems when something goes wrong. All communication can be done in English, remotely.

Frequently asked questions
Can foreigners buy property in Brazil?
Yes. Foreigners can buy urban property in Brazil, such as apartments and houses, under essentially the same rules as Brazilians. Rural land is subject to specific restrictions and requires a case-by-case analysis.
Do I need to be in Brazil to buy a property?
No. With a properly drafted power of attorney and, where possible, electronic signatures, the purchase can be completed remotely.
What is a CPF and do I need one?
The CPF is the Brazilian taxpayer number. It is required to buy and register property and can be obtained from abroad, including through Brazilian consulates.
How should I send money for the purchase?
Funds should be transferred through the official banking and foreign exchange system, with proper documentation. Keeping records of the inflow is important for taxes and for a future sale or repatriation.
Do you speak English?
Yes. All consultations, updates and documents can be explained in English. Spanish is also available.
